History / Challenge
In the oil and gas industry, the use of fluid pumping units in oil wells is common, as well as data acquisition systems for monitoring variables of interest, such as pressure and flow. Even more important are security systems, as proposed in the solution made with a Horner PLC. It allows the operator of the pumping unit to establish a pressure set point, where once this value is exceeded, the system generates a control action and stops pumping to avoid damage to both the equipment and the integrity of the well.
Solution
Estrella International Energy Services, a longtime customer of Horner Automation, chose the Horner X7A PLC for their application. Two analog inputs (4-20 mA), were configured for pressure readings. One of the High Speed Counter (HSC) fast inputs in totalizer mode was used to be able to calculate the flow rate, and one of the relay outputs was configured to activate the actuator that allowed neutralizing the pumping unit. Horner allows you to develop the integration of applications from the graphical side, along with easy programming, a quick response, and a stable system that ensures quality in the development of applications.
Testimonial
“For several years I have worked with Horner’s PLC, given its reliability in the development of applications, as well as the variety of functionalities it incorporates, allowing any application to be developed. Horner allows you to provide a solution to any implementation that requires it.”
